SMC (Seattle Manufacturing Corporation) Warranty
SMC LIMITED WARRANTY
SMC products are warranted to the general specifications of use listed on www.smcgear.com product pages and within product user instructions.
All SMC gear has a ONE YEAR WARRANTY (365 DAYS) from purchase date. This warranty coverage applies only to the original purchaser that items purchased are free from defects in material and workmanship. If the customer discovers a covered defect, they should contact SMC Customer Service immediately via email at customerservice@smcgear.com or by phone at 360-366-5534 to initialize the warranty and return process.
Items that are claimed to be defective will be issued a pre-assigned four-digit CC (Customer Care) Number, and the return MUST include the following information:
- Product name and part number
- Product MLN – a four or five digit numeric or alphanumeric code on each product indicating manufacture date. Customer Service can assist in finding this code on your product.
- A detailed description of the item defect, or conditions leading to the failure/defect of the item.
- The place and date of the original purchase as well as a copy of the original invoice or receipt.
- Current contact information
Items returned without a preassigned will not be evaluated until approval and issuance of a CC Number, and may be returned at owners expense or destroyed at SMC’s discretion. Items being sent in for inspection may or may not be returned if the product in question is deemed potentially unsafe or non-functional, and a replacement may be sent at no-cost or at discount as deemed appropriate by SMC. Customers are responsible for inbound shipping costs unless SMC Customer Service approves alternative methods. Upon return of item, SMC will use product information to determine item eligibility for service, replacement, or refund at no cost. If non-eligibility is determined, SMC will return item, but any item not suitable for continued life-safety use will be destroyed and customer will be notified of further options. SMC reserves the right to determine the disposition of any returned items as they see fit.
SMC warranty evaluation process:
- Contact SMC Customer Service department
- Provide product name and part number
- Provide Product MLN – a four or five digit numeric or alphanumeric code on each product indicating manufacture date. Customer Service can assist in finding this code on your product.
- Provide a detailed description of the item defect, or conditions leading to the failure/defect of the item.
- Provide copy of the original invoice or receipt for item.
- Provide current contact information
- SMC Customer Service will provide a CC Number and return authorization. This CC Number is valid for 90 days.
- Customer ships item back to SMC**.
- ** PLEASE CLEARLY LABEL ALL RETURN SHIPMENTS WITH PROVIDED CC NUMBER.
- Upon receipt of product, SMC will evaluate item within 5-10 business days and make a warranty/repair evaluation and contact you with our findings to discuss further options.
WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS:
SMC DOES NOT ACCEPT WARRANTY REQUESTS FOR REPLACEMENTS OR RETURNS IN THE FOLLOWING CIRCUMSTANCES: Pre-owned, discontinued, or obsolete items. Items that have been modified or altered. Items showing neglect, misuse, damage, or deterioration due to improper maintenance, storage, or use outside of intentioned designs. SMC Products are not warrantied against normal wear and tear. As a life safety equipment manufacturer, we cannot accept replacement requests for items bought on auction or "classified" websites (Ex: eBay, Craigslist, Etc...). SMC DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE SAFETY OR USABILITY OF PRODUCTS BOUGHT "PRE-USED" OR FROM NON-AUTHORIZED RETAILERS. You should NOT buy life safety products in this way, as the authenticity, history, or quality of the product may be compromised. We also recommend that any product with an unknown age and unknown service history should also be retired. When wanting to return or warranty items meeting the above circumstances, SMC may offer discounts on purchase of new products at its discretion. Contact customer service for information on your product to find out if it is discontinued, obsolete, or meets the above conditions.
