Description

The Harken Advance Tech Progress Capture Pulley is a compact double pulley with an integrated cam designed for efficient progress capture in rescue and rope access systems. The built-in cam eliminates the need for separate prusik loops, simplifying mechanical advantage setups while improving speed and reliability during rescue operations.

Manufactured from Aerospace-quality anodized aluminum, the Advance Tech provides exceptional durability, corrosion resistance, and smooth performance. High-efficiency sealed ball bearings ensure consistent function even in harsh environments where lower-grade pulleys may fail.

Designed for professional rescue teams and technical rope users, the Advance Tech supports rope diameters from 7 mm to 12.5 mm and integrates easily into small mechanical advantage systems used in technical rescue scenarios.

Key Features

  • Integrated Progress Capture Cam
The built-in cam automatically captures progress during hauling systems, eliminating the need for prusik loops and simplifying rigging.
  • High-Efficiency Ball Bearings
Sealed ball bearings provide smooth rotation and reliable performance even in demanding rescue environments.
  • Compact All-in-One Design
The integrated frame and cam create a streamlined pulley system that reduces bulk and shortens the end-to-end length of the system while maintaining high performance.
  • Rope Retention Pins
Stainless steel pins keep rope secured in the pulley when the system is packed, mitigating tangles and allowing rapid deployment when needed.
  • One-Handed Operation
Precision-tensioned side plates allow rescuers to open and operate the pulley easily with one hand.
  • Low-Profile Hardware
Flush fasteners minimize snagging when moving the pulley through complex rigging environments.
  • Complies with regulations (EU) 2016/425 relating to PPE
  • EN567:2013
  • EN12278:2007

Haul System Strength:

Cam Rating 4:1 Haul System Strength - Typical 4:1 system rigged using the Advance Tech with cam engaged on the 4th leg and a standard double Pulleys.  The system utilized the becket on the Advance Tech Pulleys.  System was pulled end to end using carabiner holes.

Cam Rating 4:1
     Rope ø           Breaking Strength
7mm 2,000 lbf. (8.9kN)
9mm 2,500 lbf. (11.1kN)
12.5mm 4,500 lbf. (20kN)

Cam Rating 1:1 Haul System Strength – This configuration is not recommended due to the relatively low strength results, but are included in these instructions to provide the necessary guidance when developing rigging methods.  Single rope strand is rigged through the engaged cam and over one sheave.  The force is applied between the end of the rope and the Pulleys carabiner hole.

Cam Rating 1:1
     Rope ø           Breaking Strength
7mm 500 lbf. (2.2kN)
9mm 700 lbf. (3.1kN)
12.5mm 1,000 lbf. (4.4kN)

    EN standard

Why isn't the Advance Tech HX Progress Capture Pulley certified for the European market? it looks great and could have been well marketed in all the markets where EU standards are key condition for usage.

The HX load capture is a dream to use.

Posted by Eric on May 2nd 2016

Just got a rigging kit from Wesspur that included your Advance Tech HX pulley and tech mate double pulley. The HX load capture is a dream to use. The tech mate souble pulley could really use a becket on it for enhanced rigging options. If you use it to apply tension to a rope that goes up to an overhead load, and you are in an instance where you have to unload the progress capture, it's possible for it to be up out of reach. I set it aside for a double pulley w/ a becket and rigged the HX to the low end for my job. When it came time for my ground worker to load a branch to help me make an out of position cut he was able to snub off the load line on a porta wrap, un-cam the HX, then use the hook on the back of the pole saw to pull the prusik down to within reach and take the block and tackle out of the system. Once out, the limb was lowered in traditional fashion. For confined space rescue where the casualty is 'down in the hole' having the HX at the top anchor is useful too. Having a becket on each end would allow user and situational flexibility that other systems don't offer.
