Available in two configurations and three lengths, its fully modular head, clearance shaft and ultralight weight make Kobah Pro perfectly suited for nearly any objective. Choose the Adze and Glacier Pick for all mountain functionality or the Hammer and Headwall Pick for pushing into steeper terrain. The broad, contoured head features a unique corrugated texture and provides a comfortable and secure grip to minimize fatigue over a long day in the mountains. The included GripLock pommel enables a high level of versatility. Park it at the spike and climb leashless, slide it up to the bend in the shaft to support your hand in high dagger position or set the GripLock at the top of the shaft for effortless plunging. Oversized holes at the head and spike of the Kobah Pro allow easy attachment of carabiners, leashes or umbilicals. Kobah Pro is fully T-rated for strength and long-term durability.

The perfect ice axe

I have been fortunate enough to climb many high challenging peaks around the world and one of the most important pieces of equipment I use is my Ice Axe. For me, it needs to be comfortable to climb with but versatile enough to suit various terrain and situations. It also needs to be strong but light weight. With the SMC Kobah Pro weighing in at around 17oz, this does the trick. This axe is strong and as it has an aluminum head, it is very comfortable to walk with. The Kobah Pro has a moveable and removeable hand/finger rest that is great for when I interchange between steep snow and more challenging features. Another benefit that this axe incorporates is that it enables me to exchange the ads with the hammer. I think this is a great feature as I can add the correct fixture before I go depending on the conditions and terrain. I took the Kobah with me on my last expedition to Antarctica and it was a great addition to my kit. I look forward to taking it with me on many more expeditions and adventures.
